MMSM CAREER DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM BATCH 1

Beyond business strategies, MMSM’s fundamental belief is in its people (both shore and seafarer).

MMSM has always considered its people to be the key to its long-term success. Thus, the organization has consciously exerted efforts to cultivate a culture of continuous learning and provide career dynamism to all personnel. MMSM’s biggest investment is in people and in promoting continuing education that will lead to wider career opportunities.

According to Wikipedia “career is an individual’s metaphorical “journey” through learning, work, and other aspects of life. ” Carrying our vision and m1ss1on, under MMSM’s Professional HR Development (PHD) system, the management established the Strategic Talent Engagement Program (STEP) that is aimed to prepare, engage and align MMSM’s human resources’ knowledge, attributes and competencies to the future goals of the organization and have a Systematic Career Development system.

We are glad to have two (2) Junior Officers and a Senior officer who has officially completed the 1st batch of MMSM’s Career development program.

Let us hear from the said officers, their experiences during their stay at the head office and how this program will help them to be ready in facing the challenges of their new responsibilities.

picture2“Today is the last day of my training. Thank you for this opportunity and for allowing us to sit in your good office, to experience how it is to be in the management side. Because of this training, I learned about office workflow and head office team dynamics. This training taught me the importance of how to be a good leader onboard, someone whom the crew will respectfully follow. It also taught me the importance of clear communications. Lastly, it taught me the importance of being flexible in every situation and helped me appreciate the significance  of teamwork onboard even more.

And as always and most importantly, it stressed the importance of safety, this being our top-most priority as aptly written down in the mission and vision of MMSM.

 It is my fervent wish that training like this will continue so that my fellow crew will also have the opportunity to learn and for us to be even more motivated.”

“I would like to express my sincerest gratitude to MMSM for allowing me to seat-in at the head office to see firsthand, head office operations and processes. It was such a wonderful experience topicture3 be able to see the day-to-day ship management operations, both the Marine and Technical side of it. A bonus was being able to interact with the Accounting and Procurement departments as well. This opportunity widened my understanding and boosted my knowledge vessel management, something that is extremely critical for me as I wish to become a Master. Equally important were the knowledge and experiences shared by all the SI from the Marine and Technical departments, which will be

of immense help when one is onboard a vessel. This training also gave me the opportunity to know all the staff of MMSM. Again, thank you very much for the opportunity and it was indeed, a fruitful learning experience for me. I wish you all the best.”

“Let me take this opportunity to thank MMSM for this program, one that gave us chance to sit-in at the head office and meet and greet with the personnel behind the most favored ship management company by MOL. It has been great learning experience for us especially the part where we got wisdom on how ship management runs as a business, the workflow of the organization, and how to deal with the adversities and challenges that the company faces on a regular basis. This program will be a significant help in filling gaps in our knowledge and help us in picture4doing our part toward MMSM achieving the company mission and vision. It also gave us wisdom on how to apply the knowledge we learned in this training once we are onboard.
