Duck-Cover-and-Hold
The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) held the second Metro Manila “shake drill” or earth quake scenario last June 22, 2016. The second shake drill simulated the after-math of 7.2 magnitude tremor. Employees from Magsaysay 520, GE Antonino, and Times Plaza buildings participated in this simulation drill which started at exactly 9:00am and ended around 9:45am. Everyone in Metro Manila was encouraged to participate in the drill, whether they are at home, at work, in school, or even on the road. Since the shake drill was designed to simulate an un-expected 7.2 magnitude earthquake, a vast number of people were projected to be affected.
The Metro Manila Shake Drill was coordinated with the barangays, government agencies, hos-pitals, businesses, schools, BPOs, mall operators and the religious sectors in order to ensure the wid-est participation. MMSM joined the government’s efforts to promote a culture of preparedness in response to emergency situations.
